A rare and unusual antique Edwardian ( possibly earlier) ceramic rolling pin centre, with a transfered port scene, I believe of China, with beautiful oriental buildings, tall ships and boats.... The transfer print is very clear in the area of the port, buildings and tall ships but more blurred to the front of the scene which is of a Victorian couple sitting amongst tea cases with a a cross legged Chinese man.. Sadly the printed marking is very blurred, does it say Author Wood, England? Please see my pictures. There is some age related crazing to the glaze and a small glaze blemish each end, and a tiny perfect pin head hole which I expect happened in firing... Such a nice thing and I believe it could be reunited with some wooden handles. It measures 24 cm long by 6 and a half cm wide. Could it be a commemorative item ? I cant find another... I am always happy to answer questions regards my items or International postage queries. Many thanks and ...
