We are delighted to offer you this fine old antique, high quality, ornately detailed, sterling silver and faceted rock crystal gemstone brooch, from the turn of the last century! It is a type of bar pin, or variation tof, measuring 2 " long and 3/8" at its widest part. It has a number of interesting features, , which we shall attempt to describe in depth. The large, unusual shaped center stone , appears to be rock crystal, and still has its crisp facets, as you might expect from such a hardy stone. In some lights, the stone has a palest lemon hue , which might be due to the underlying metal. The 6-sided stone has an unusual cut as well, and it measures 3/4" long and 3/8" wide. It is secured in a high bezel setting and rises up 1/8" . It has a couple of minor surface scratches when viewed under magnification. To its sides, t is an open work extension leading to 2 small, round Old European cut glass stones, bead set in diamond shaped carre's. One has a green hue to it, possibly from age, but still most intriguing! The ends of the brooch are pointed like arrows, and feature 3 compartments, each with etched leaves inside! all of the edges, or borders, are detailed in fine millegrain.
