Antique Elephant Tusk Ivory Carved Foo Dog You are bidding on an antique ivory figurine. It is carved out of solid elephant tusk ivory. It is very intricately carved. Features a foo dog. Does show some light yellowing which shows that it is an older piece. Please refer to the pictures provided for additional information. Figurine measures 1 7/8 inches long Figure appears to have the Lines of Retzius which are unique to elephant ivory. These fine intersecting lines are visible in cross section, and give an engine-turned effect (intersecting lines with a diamond shape between them). We purchased this item from a private collection and the item was made prior to 1970. These items are from the estate of Pauline Palumbo an heir to one of the founders of standard oil.
