Welcome to Carolyn's Country Collectibles For Sale: Pre-ban Imported Antique Carved Ivory Elephant Tusk and Stand! This Piece of amazing craftsmanship comes with some history. This beautifully carved, elephant tusk and stand were brought over by a Navy Captain and was passed down to his daughter. It now has been passed down to me. This piece of art should go to someone who can really appreciate it's rareness and beauty. Fantastic piece for collectors! I have done extensive research to verify it's time of origin and worth. Many reputable auction houses believe it was originated from either Asia, or Japan, however, most likely Japanese origin. So, for me to give you an exact origin would be an estimated guess, from professionals who specialize in this field, not a fact. It has been estimated that it was carved sometime between 1910-1914. Its' length from end to tip is 30 inches long, and does not account for the curvature of the tusk. The width varies from 3 1/4 inches to 3 5/8 inches at the large end of the tusk, due to the fact the tusk is not perfectly round. It weighs 4-5 pounds . The ivory tusk is completely carved all over it. The detail is very intericate. It's fully carved with flowers and leaves. The stand was carved to match the ivory tusk.
