Antique Empire Period Rosewood & MOP Inlaid Lap Desk
...... Made circa 1830s this antique Rosewood Lap Desk is finely inlaid with brass and two type of Mother of Pearl. In the closed position it measures 9 ½" by 15 ½" by 6 ½" tall. The Rosewood Veneers are in perfect condition without any repairs and the brass inlay is also perfect. T is one small piece of MOP missing from the keyhole, but the rest of the MOP is also in perfect condition. All the edges of this desk have long thin pieces of inlaid Ebony. On the right front corner one of these pieces is missing. The only other problem is to the front writing surface on the inside. You can see w the brass latch has broken out and is missing. T are no other damages or repairs to this 19th century Lap Desk. The leather writhing surface and two inkwells are original and in my close-up photo you can see the original label. ...
