PRESENTING AN ANTIQUE EMPIRE TIGER OAK LOW DRESSER, CIRCA LATE 1800s
PRESENTING AN ANTIQUE EMPIRE TIGER OAK LOW DRESSER WITH MIRROR HARP. This great old Empire Chest of Drawers is done in Tiger Stripe, Quartersawn Oak. Featuring a classic Empire design with its thick, curvy side pilasters & panel-in-frame sides. This one still has its Original Empire mirror harp frame, but alas, no mirror. You could easily have one made with a simple oak picture frame, or remove the harp & hang your mirror on the wall. I once saw a mirror harp converted to an antique quilt display, simply by attatching a dowel rod across the harp. The frame is SOLID Tiger Stripe Oak. The harp is really nice with Empire serpentine sides that follow the lines of the dresser below. Chest drawers are 2 over 2 design & exhibit the beautiful Tiger Oak grain figure. The original oak mushroom knobs are still present. Brass key escutchions & mortise locks, "Crescent Moon & Pin" dovetail-type joinery. The finish is original, it does have wear, scratches & marks as you can see. It can be cleaned up or refinished to look brand new if you like. I cleaned the top to show you the amazing Tiger grain patterns. Really nice. The top is extra thick, Tiger Stripe, you can see the oak end grain on the side edges. A Matching Empire Oak Tall Dresser with Mirror is available seperately on a seperate auction. It is an exact design match, the only difference being the front leg bottoms on the tall dresser are flat, on the low dresser they are rounded. Measures 42 inches wide, 20.5 inches deep, 35 inches high. **Please note: This item will be available for your pickup or shipping after February 11th.
