Antique English, alabaster box, intended for powder or or patches, with a gilt copper bezel, the lid set with a charming verre eglomise and gilt cabochon glass, reading 'It is you I love'. A wonderful little box - unusual and very collectable! CONDITION : All original and very, very good. Some signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Cabochon perfectly secure but moves a fraction. Wear to edge of black part visible from top. DEFECTS : A couple of chips to the lid, easily ground down if desired. DATE/MARKS : Around 1770/80. Not marked. DIMENSIONS : 30 mm tall, lid 33.5 mm diameter (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter. WEIGHT : Approx. 35.0 grams. our other auctions.
