Antique English Carved Oak Hall Sofa Table Bulbous Legs HEAVY, Solid Oak, Renaissance Revival Griffin Carving Direct from England, this listing is for another extraordinary antique English oak table âe" this one outstanding with its large carved drawer and Gothic griffin or âeoeNorthwindâe carved backâe¦âe¦âe¦.both complimented by the tremendous âeoebulbousâe carved and turned legs. It is sturdy and well made, with an âeoeHâe stretcher for stability and dovetailed drawer construction. I can imagine this fabulous table in a foyer or entry, certainly as a sofa table or an accent piece anyw in your home or officeâe¦âe¦âe¦.if you need a âeoestatementâe piece that is sure to compliment any décor, this is definitely one for you!! The table is 36âeH (to top of back trim) x 36âe x 18 ½âe; Inside drawer, appx. 3 ½âeH x 27âe x 14âe. As many of you know, all of my antiques are hand selected from European container shipments. I do not purchase in bulk, but prefer to individually purchase the items, with each piece selected for its unique characteristics and quality. This table is in good condition, structurally sound and visually appealing, with normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings, and other imperfections. The large drawer has dovetailed construction and the entire table is solid oak. The finish on this table is the original finish, and it has not seen a lot of loving treatment over the yearsâe¦..meaning the wood needs several layers of wax to get it to my particular taste, but is well suited as presented for those preferring a more natural patina. The large carved back piece is removable, with pegs on either end that fit into the table top (and the two small square end caps are possibly replacements made somew over the years). When taking the photos I did notice an old repaired split on one of the large âeoebulbsâe on the leg âe" absolutely nothing that harms the structural integrity or stability of the table, and something that most sellers would probably not even mention!! Please also note in the photos, the table top finish does have spotting and some staining, as to be expected with its age.
