Antique English Carved Pyrography Art Deco Smoke Stand Fabulous âe" Ornately carved birds & foliage Direct from England, this listing is for a stunning smoke stand with some of the most detailed hand carving Iâe(tm)ve ever seen. The carving appears to be pyrography, also called âeoepoker workâe in some regions, for its style of using a hot tip to actually burn the design in the wood (a fireplace poker tip was the original method before the days of electricity!!). The carving is phenomenal, with a bird and foliage on the top tray and three birds and foliage on the base; the tapered center pedestal has an intriguing design that looks like peacock feathers to me!! The top tray has a little cup that is also embellished with a design, as well as a copper-type matchbook holder and two cigarette or cigar holders. This unique stand is 32 ½âeH x 10 ¾âe x 10 ¾âe; The wood pedestal is 29 ¼âeH; Base diameter is 10 ¾âe. All of my antiques are hand selected from European shippers. I do not purchase in bulk, but prefer to individually purchase the items, with each piece selected for its unique characteristics and quality. I have several barley twist smoke stands that I will be listing shortly!! This stand is in VERY good condition, structurally sound and visually appealing, with LESS THAN normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings, and other imperfections. IF it was ever used, it was not used very often!!! I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding. SHIPPING: Professional packaging, shipping and insurance on this item will be $22.00. (Lower 48 states only). All my antique furniture is professionally packaged for shipment by UPS, resulting in very little shipping damage in the past, but sometimes creating slightly higher shipping costs on my antiques versus other sellers. I believe it is worth the few extra dollars to get your one-of-a-kind antique delivered safely to your door!!
