Antique English Commemorative Jug Volunteer Rifle Corps

For auction is a 19th century commemorative salt glaze jug ( 8"h. x 6") made in England . It is decorated with two soldiers ( Volunteer Rifle Corps) surrounded by foliage and impressed on the lower rim with the words: "The Volunteer Rifle Corps". The handle of the jug is in the shape of a rife and the top of the handle is the face of a lion. The green background makes the highly raised detailing "stand out". This jug commemorates the Crimean War (1853-56) with Imperial Russia on one side and an alliance of France, United Kingdom, Kingdom of Sardinia and th Ottoman Empire.The Volunteer Rifle Corps is honored by this jug. This item which is in excellent condition with normal age wear will make a fine addition to any collection.Tuesdays & Thursdays are my shipping days. Items not paid for within 10 days are considered unsold and the auction is void unless otherwise arranged. All items are carefully packed & insured.
