This listing is for a gorgeous,authentic, antique English mahogany (ca. 1835) dining table. This is NOT a reproduction as many tables listed are, it is an original table from the period. This beautiful table features a spectacular hand-carved center pedestal. The ingenious mechanical design allows the two sets of reeded, turned legs on brass casters to fold up into the two table ends, which, whenfitted together, form an oval top over the center pedestal. Very practical for smaller spaces. When fully extended with all four leaves, the table seats 10 -12 people .This table was purchased some years ago in London at the reputable dealer, Zoffany Ltd., and shipped to the U.S. where it is currently located. A repair on the edge of the top is pictured.The table and chairs are an excellent value for someone who values fine furniture. There is a complementary set of 8 lovely, authentic period Regency (ca.1810) chairs as well. They match the color of the table and are the perfect height to fit comfortably under it, not all do.There are 2 arm chairs and 6 side chairs., 8 in total. They are hand carved mahogany in good condition. Some have had repairs over the years,( they are 200 years old). I have owned the set since 1985, and have had many wonderful memories created dining there. It is an elegant table that is formal, but not 'fussy', with comfortable, roomy seats for dinner parties, great to sit and enjoy. A wonderful opportunity to own a lovely set for an extremely reasonable price for the quality.TABLE measures: Open: Fully extended 118" in length x 51" wide x 28" drop table top to floor, (3" apron, 25" drop from bottom apron to floor). Closed: Oval (no leaves) 45" x 51" x 28" drop to floor-(4) each leaves are 18" x 51".CHAIRS measure: Armchair-35" top back rail to floor x 22" wide seat x18" deep x 19" drop seat to floor. Side chair-35" high x 19-1/2" wide seat 17-3/4" depth x 19" drop to floor from seat.Any questions, please feel free to ask.Thank you.
