Purchased from a RI estate is this old yellow clay majolica square shaped hanging planter. This has a nice leaf and bud design that goes around the wooden box style pottery planter. The planter measures 5 1/2 inches tall and is 8 inches by 8 inches square. The base is impressed with an oval and GEORGE SKEY WILNECOTE WORKS TAMWORTH. From what I could find out, this was made in the late 1800's in England. The base has a round hole with a loose fitting pottery plug in it. It appears to have been made this way. The planter is in great condition with a very fine crack on the top of one of the posts and a small fleck on another. T is also some small chipping on the feet but nothing major or objectionable. This is a heavy piece of majolica. I have several other old pieces of majolica listed for auction this week. Please check out my other auctions for quality vintage art pottery, majolica, stoneware, prints and primitives. I combine shipping costs on most items. Please ask questions before bidding. Please do not bid unless you intend to purchase within 10 days of close of auction. Most of my items are used and some could use a good cleaning. I sell them as I find them, I do not clean the pieces. For additional pictures, please email me.
