This pretty pitcher measures 6 1/2 "(16.5 cm) in height, 4 1/2 "(11.5 cm) in diameter at the bottom and 3 7/8 "(9.8 cm) at the top, so even though it's cylindrical in shape, a graduates to a smaller size diameter as you move towards the top. The pitcher also measures 6 1/4 "(15.8 cm) from the end of the handle to the tip of the spout. The rim on the bottom is unglazed which surrounds the interior of the bottom is glazed green, has the word "England" incised in old cursive writing and there is also a "Staffordshire Rope Knot" design incised as well. These type of wares were rarely ever marked. There are at least 11 potters that used the "Rope Knot" design but usually only on Ironstone and porcelain. This pitcher has a two toned embellished bracket handle that has a crosshatched circle at top and leaf designs along the sides. It has a 1 1/2 "(3.8 cm) crosshatched design border fence circles the top and base of the pitcher. In the middle, one side has a five petaled flower, one bud and five leaves. The opposite side has the same flower, but only three leaves. The spout sparrow beaked and fluted. The interior has a maroon glaze that "overflows" halfway down the outside of the pitcher, where bleeds into the green glaze.
