Antique English Mission Carved Oak Gateleg Tea Table This listing is for a very nice English oak flip top, gateleg tea table. "Tea" tables are typically petite tables that can flip or expand to a larger size when used for placement of a tea service during morning or afternoon tea. I have found them to be in great demand in today's antique furniture market, not only for their original use, but many of my customers also purchase these tables for children's rooms, for bed and breakfast type settings, and also for display pieces. They tend to add a personal touch to any décor and come in a variety of styles, although current demand makes high quality tea tables harder and harder to find.Over the past six months I have been searching for these versatile tables at the many European shipment sales that I attend, and I found only three that met my quality expectations; the others are also listed in my eBay store at this time. This tea table has an octagon shaped top, with heavy carvings around the edges and a large carved geometric pattern in the center top. When not in use, it can stand with the table top perpendicular to the floor, thus requiring minimal space in your home. When ready to use the table, simply flip down the top and pull out the gateleg. The table top has beveled edges and a dark golden oak finish. The carved table top is 19 ¼" x 18 ¾";With the top flipped up, the height is 27 ¾", and the footprint on the floor is 9 ¼" x 16 ½".With the table top flipped down and ready for use, the height is 18".The table is in good condition for its age, with normal signs of age and use, dings, scratches and other imperfections. Please note the finish on this table is almost a satin type finish and tfore the scratching may seem more apparent than on other type finishes. I do not believe it mars the beauty of the piece at all and mention it only for full disclosure purposes.I only offer carefully selected quality pieces, and always provide multiple photos and written information. I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding. Please keep in mind antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character.SHIPPING: Professional packaging, shipping and insurance on this item will be $ 71.00. (lower 48 states only). All my antique furniture is professionally packaged for shipment by UPS, resulting in very little shipping damage in the past, but sometimes creating slightly higher shipping costs on my antiques versus other sellers. I believe it is worth the few extra dollars to get your one-of-a-kind antique delivered safely to your door!!Free local pick-up in Shreveport , Louisiana is available to buyers in the area. Geaux Vintage has a location at Timeline Antiques, 3323 Line Avenue, Shreveport, LA, 71104. Hours are Mon - Sat, 10am - 5pm.I also invite you to take a minute for my other listings and visit my eBay store, Geaux Vintage, to see more English and European antique furniture, barley twist, stained glass, and many other unique and personally selected pieces for your home or office décor!
