Antique English Oak Barley Twist Cabinet Leaded Glass Petite Gramophone Cabinet, Jacobean Beaded Wood Trim Purchased direct from England in a shipment sale, this listing is for a beautiful antique English oak barley twist gramophone (Victrola) cabinet, with the MOST elaborate detailing I have found on one of these cabinets!! While many people like to use these cabinets as display stands, or liquor cabinets, many others might want to actually put an old gramophone inside, and use it as originally designed!! Either way, the cabinet is a beautiful piece of furniture and a "head-turner" for any home or office........it would nicely compliment decors from traditional to colonial, Gothic to Mission!! Please note the photos carefully, as this was originally built for a gramophone and will definitely have the construction details related to that use and all the cabinet fittings to accommodate a gramophone, including the drilled hole of the side w the handle was, and various notches and cut-outs inside the cabinet to make the gramophone fit properly. The cabinet features the following : · A dark, rich finish, and beautiful aged patina; · All four barley twist legs and oak stretcher bars, which provide stability; · Barley twist columns on either side of the cabinet front; · Gorgeous Jacobean wood beaded trim and accents on the front; · LARGE wood beaded trim on both side panels; Other features : The top is hinged and lifts up. You will note another set of hinge marks in the photos, although I cannot figure out why.....perhaps someone attempted to mount it the opposite way at one point in its life?......and of course it only fits as intended. Anyway, the marks only show when the lid is open. The leaded glass door opens down, with original pull. The leaded glass is very old and in very good condition, with no cracks or damage. The lower BACK side of the cabinet has a newer piece of wood board and two little wood pegs to hold it in place.......the original back was probably removed when the gramophone was removed. T are two wood blocks that function as latches to keep the lower back in place. Double front doors open to reveal fabric screen that once covered speaker for gramophone. If buyer intends to use the stand for storage or as a cabinet, this screen can be removed from the inside...but it is not something that can be removed and put back. MEASUREMENTS : 44"H x 24" x 18"; Inside upper cabinet, 11"H x 15" x 22"; Inside lower area, 16"H x 15" x 22". CONDITION : As noted above, the cabinet is in good condition for its age, visually appealing, with normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings and other imperfections. For disclosure purposes, please note the following, although do not expect every little scratch to be specifically listed As with all my furniture, I always make careful selection of quality pieces and provide multiple photos and written information. But please keep in mind they are antiques with many years of age and use and will show scratching, usage marks or other imperfections. You should consider an antique piece if you value unique style, craftsmanship, and the use of quality materials. As always, I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding. SHIPPING: Professional packaging, shipping and insurance on this item will be 195.00. All my antique furniture is professionally packaged for shipment by UPS, resulting in very little shipping damage in the past, but sometimes creating slightly higher shipping costs on my antiques versus other sellers. I believe it is worth the few extra dollars to get your one-of-a-kind antique delivered safely to your front door!! Free local pick-up in Shreveport, Louisiana is also available to buyers in the area. Please email for arrangements; Louisiana sales tax will apply. Thank you for spending time on ...
