Antique English Oak Barley Twist Hall Sofa End Table Direct from Wales, UKâe¦.Jacobean, ½ Octagon, w Drawer Direct from Cardiff, Wales, UK, this listing is for an antique English oak hall or sofa tableâe¦âe¦with quality construction and elegant design. The unique ½ octagon shape has blunted corners, gadrooned sides, scalloped corner apron trim, and large double wood beading. And thatâe(tm)s BEFORE we talk about the lovely and classic barley twist legs!! The table is a generous size, and suitable for a foyer or accent table, great in a powder room as well. It would be fabulous with a Jacobean beaded frame beveled mirror (see my other listings!!) hanging above it!!! Of course the stretcher bars around the barley twist legs provide strength and support and the center drawer yields always needed storage space. The beautiful English oak has a dark, rich finish, with some expected wear on the top that adds charm and speaks of its use over the years across the ocean! The table has its original makerâe(tm)s tag, which is always âeoelagniappeâe on an antique, and it reveals the table was made in Cardiff, Wales, UK. The label, which is inside the drawer reads: âeoeP. E. Gane Ltdâe âeoeHouse Furnishersâe âeoe38 & 41, Queen Stâe âeoeCardiffâe. The measurements: 30âeH x 36 ¼âex 17 ¼âe; Inside drawer, appx. 3âeH x 13âe x 14âe. As many of you know, all of my antiques are hand selected from European container shipments. I do not purchase in bulk, but prefer to individually purchase the items, with each piece selected for its unique characteristics and quality. The table is in good condition, structurally sound and visually appealing, with normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings, and other imperfections. As mentioned t is natural wear on the finish, and I also noted some old worm holes on the backside, which is often found on furniture from the UK, and mentioned only for disclosure purposes.
