English Oak Carved Gothic Revival Hall Chair Ornate Open Carved Back, Quarter Sawn "Tiger" Oak Grain Direct from England, this listing is for an exquisite carved "hall chair", referring to the original use of this style and size chair. Originally hall chairs were found in the receiving area of a home, w a butler would ask guests to sit patiently until the master (or Mrs.!!) of the house was ready to receive their company. In today's market, these ornate chairs are used throughout the home or office, as accent chairs in the foyer...or fireside......or in the den, bedroom.......basically anyw you want to have an additional focus piece that will certainly command some attention........and it be unlike anything anyone else has!!! The quality craftsmanship is obvious, with thick solid oak construction and some beautiful tiger oak grain. Other features include: · Heavily carved back with opulent detailing; · Solid wood seat with a thick carved beveled edge; · Sturdy, thick legs with fancy turned front legs; · Four small accent buttons across the back. The oak has a rich, mid-tone finish and a beautiful patina. Its styling is sure to blend with every décor, from traditional to Victorian, Gothic to Colonial!! Measurements : 38"H x 16 ¼" x 15"; Floor to top of seat, 18"; Wood seat area, 13" x 16"; Beveled carved seat edge, ¼". All of my items are personally selected from European container shipments. I do not purchase in bulk, but prefer to individually purchase the items, with each piece selected for its unique characteristics and quality. Condition : The chair is in good condition for its age, structurally sound, solid and sturdy, with normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings and other imperfections. When taking the photos I noticed the wood blocks underneath the seat have been re-glued over the years, to keep the chair tight and sturdy. I only offer carefully selected quality pieces, and always provide multiple photos and written information. I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding. Please keep in mind antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character. Shipping : Professional packaging, shipping and insurance on this item will be $80.00(lower 48 states only). All my antique furniture is professionally packaged for shipment by UPS, resulting in very little shipping damage in the past, but sometimes creating slightly higher shipping costs on my antiques versus other sellers. I believe it is worth the few extra dollars to get your one-of-a-kind antique delivered safely to your door!! Local pick-up in Shreveport, Louisiana is also available to buyers in the area. Please email for arrangements; Louisiana sales tax will apply for items picked up in Shreveport. Thank you for spending time on this listing; I realize t are many, many sellers to choose from, and I appreciate you considering my item!! I also invite you to take a minute to visit my eBay store, Geaux Vintage Antiques, to see more English and European antique furniture, barley twist items, stained glass, and many other unique and personally selected pieces for your home or office décor! ..."with all that, why Geaux anyw else?"
