Antique English Oak Grand Daughter Clock âe~Tigerâe(tm) Oak Jacobean style Paneled & beaded trim Long Case!! Direct from England, this listing is for a beautiful English oak granddaughter clock, probably one of the prettiest granddaughter clock cases I have seen in several years!! It has applied carved trim AND beaded trim, and stunning oak grain on the long case ---âe" certain to blend well with any décor, from traditional to Victorian, Gothic to cottage!! This clock is considered as a âeoegranddaughter clockâe because of its height and slender build. Generally, âeoelong caseâe or floor standing clocks that are 42âe to 54âe tall are categorized as Granddaughter clocks (Grandmother clocks are usually 60âe to 70âe). âeoeGranddaughter clocksâe became particularly popular in England in the 1940âe(tm)s âe" one reason being their smaller stature fit appropriately in more homes, and they also had an accompanying smaller price tag. To minimize costs, granddaughter clocks were usually constructed of oak, mahogany or walnut veneer, and sadly, they havenâe(tm)t fared well over the years; in todayâe(tm)s market, it is very hard to find one of these English Granddaughter clocks with their case in good condition. As those who read my listings know, I am very particular about the items I offer and I have passed by quite a few other granddaughter clocks before finding this one!!! These clocks make excellent accent pieces in your home or office, whether or not they work almost becomes immaterial given their beauty and unique nature. They are truly a âeoeconversationâe piece, and surely will make a statement piece in any room. This granddaughter clock is 49 1⁄4âe x 10âe x 6âe. Neither the pendulum nor the key are included. I am NOT selling it as a properly functioning clock; if the buyer wants to use the clock for time keeping, I suggest a good cleaning/servicing from a reputable clock repair store and of course, a key and pendulum will need to be added. As stated, the cabinet is in very good condition with less than normal signs of 70+ yearsâe(tm) age and use, scratches, dings, and other imperfections. The back right upper corner has been chipped (see photos), although it is a minor issue and as to be expected and the face has some scratches (note t is NO water damage or warping on the veneer, like the majority of these clocks have nowadays!!)
