Offered for sale is an antique rummer. Clear glass, hand blown, hand cut and hand etched in England in the first half of the 1800s. Just obtained from a local house, fresh to the market! Historical and Commemorative British Glass. This is the second to last glass! We had a total of 5 to start with. Second to last chance to own one of these glasses!Glass is decorated with a central panel depicting two large frigate ships, small ships, and the rock of Gibraltar. Etched on the left side are the words, CAPTURE OF GIBRALTAR and on the right side of the central image BY THE BRITISH FLEET 1704 .Square base with diamond start cut pattern to underneath. Glass was made in three pieces, bowl stem and base, which were fused together.Measure: 5" high. Bases: 2 1/2" square. Chips to the corners on the base, and there is one chip to the middle of the base on the side, which is underneath and is hardly noticeable from the top. Scratches to the underside of the base.Through research, have only found two sale examples of these being sold in the last 10 years. Christies, Sale 9855 lot 158, sold one glass for $1000! Just last year on eBay UK one glass, which had its base cut down so it was not in its original state, sold for $116.
