This is a wonderful old cigar lighter possibly used when gentlemen retired from the dinner table to adjoin in the library to enjoy their conversations and smoke their cigars. The piece is hallmarked Birmingham, 1898 and has the maker mark D&F which I have not identified. The piece has a font for oil with a wick holder on top. T are 3 torch sticks that dip into the font. the wick would be lighted and the torches with pieces of cotton or wick would be lit from the flame in the center and then used to light the cigars. The lighter stands 3 1/2" tall. It is in excellent condition with just one very small dent in the font. The perfect gift for that aficionado of cigars in your life.
