This is a small Antique Ostby & Barton signet ring from the estate of a fine collector. It is a signet ring in approx. size 4.5 with an initial that looks like an "S" on the front. It is marked " OB 10K " on the inside. OB stands for the famous company Ostby & Barton of RI, which made jewelry from the 1800s until the 1940s (and Ostby perished on the Titanic). It is a beautiful and delicate ring, with quality workmanship. Note the detailed design on the front of the ring and also around the band. It is extremely old, and it is in great condition with no damage or wear to the front of the ring. We do want to point out that the back of the band is just so very slightly bent on one side; this of course can easily be bent back into shape, but we do want to report any sign of damage and that is why we are starting the auction low. Please do keep in mind that antiques of this age do usually some signs of wear. It is a very small sized ring but we think signet rings were worn on the pinky finger? Of course rings can always be resized as well. It is a quality antique piece and would be a great addition to your collection -- and a chance to own a piece of history! ** If you have any questions about our items listed for auction, please feel free to email us, and we will be happy to provide you with more information.
