Up for your consideration is this very beautifulETRUSCAN MAJOLICA PLATTER.The pattern is calledSHELL AND SEAWEED.It has the GRIFFIN SMITH ans HILL logo on the back. Theartist number is unclear. It is 14" X 9 1/2". There are no cracks.I have tried to show where there is roughness and older small chipson the underside along the rim. Etruscan majolica was made fromkaolin, which was found along nearby streams outside of Phoenixville, PA.This material is quite soft and, therefore, it is not unusual for this type ofdefect. The color is bright. I feel this piece would make a wonderfuladdition to an Etruscan Majolica collection. Griffin Smith and Hillstarted making this majolica in 1882 and they closed in 1903.Please, email me with any questions or comments. Thank you.
