Antique Fireman Bed Key or Wrench J Key

is an antique hand wrought iron fireman's bed key. It is also called a J-Key. These were carried by fireman back in the day when a homeowner had leather buckets to hold water, and bags to carry out valuables in the case of a fire. The fireman used the key to disassemble a bed in the case of a fire, as the bed was often the most valuable item in a home. It is said that these were also called J keys, and perhaps are the origin of the Jake nickname for a firefighter. I do not know for sure, t are other theories of the origin of the name. It is as shown.
