This SEVEN DAY NO RESERVE auction listing is for an AUTHENTIC, ANTIQUE ORIGINAL PAINTED SUGAR BUCKET / FIRKIN. The top is stamped with the words: "OUR BEST CENTENNIAL BEST" and the date of 1876. Inside the lid written in script is: 1888 WEST HENRIETTA. This true antique sugar bucket/firkin came from a farm auction in West Henrietta, New York! The size is a "medium/large with dimensions of: top diameter 11 7/8", base diameter of 12 3/4" and height of 12 7/8" (which does not include the bail handle). I have taken TWELVE pictures of this great looking firkin showing every detail possible! The carrying handle shows the natural and expected wear to the paint w it was handled for well over 100 years as does the lid. The bands on the base which come to an "arrow" point at the ends (the same as the top) are secured with copper tacks and a staple at each of the "pointed arrow ends". The two base bands are almost void of any paint due to natural wear and moisture as seen in my pictures. The top bands (one on lid and one just below at the top) are both perfect also except for the broken piece forming the "arrow" as seen in a close up picture. I absolutely guarantee this to be the ORIGINAL first coat dry WINDSOR GREEN PAINT that has faded to almost a "black green". The staves are all solid and tight! The original wood "buttons" on the handle on each side protrude through the inside (also shown in a picture) and have the expected "use wear" to the paint. The sides of the firkin also show paint loss to the natural pine from expected use wear. This firkin was made 131 years ago and was a utilitarian piece that was used but never abused. I absoultely guarantee this listing as stated in my description, so Bid and Buy with confidence. I am starting it out with a price lower than my acquisition cost and NO RESERVE!
