This gorgeous antique Flow Blue oval relish dish was crafted by Royal Staffordshire Pottery (also known as the Arthur J. Wilkinson Pottery Works) in Staffordshire, England, and is in excellent condition. It features the "Iris " pattern on fine glazed earthenware. The cobalt blue color is quite deep with a very nice flow (see photo 2 below), which is one of the nicer qualities of genuine antique Flow Blue items made in the late 1800's (the Victorian Era). Based upon its backstamp, it is more than 100 years old .The "Iris" pattern features an Art Nouveau garland of iris flowers with scrolling ribbons, accented by hand-painted gold (which is a little hard to see in the photos). The glaze is applied to both surfaces of the dish, but t is none of the discoloration as might be expected for an item this old. T are the usual light surface marks as expected for its age, and we mention this only to be completely accurate. Again, the relish dish shows very little wear, absolutely no cracks or damage, and is a very generous 8-1/2 inches wide. T is minor edge use commensurate with its age. As this is not seen when on display, and almost impossible to see even if you are looking for it, we mention it only to be accurate. It bears the world-famous Royal Staffordshire Pottery crowned lion & ribbon banner mark (see photo 3 below), and would be a wonderful addition to your collection. You will be very pleased!
