Antique " FLYLOCK " brand folding knife / pocketknife. This is not a "weapon" type knife..., it a gentleman's / lady's aid. The blades, which measure 1 3/8" and 1 1/8", DO NOT pop up erect and ready to slit a throat... they unlock and must then be pushed into a locked position manually. Engine turned white metal case (tests positive for sterling silver, but it is unmarked). Blades are stamped: " Flylock ( in script ) Reg. U.S. Pat. " ( 2 x ) ; " Flylock Knife Co. Bport ( Bridgeport ) CT " ; and " U.S. Pat. 3 . 5 . 18 " - dating the patent to 1918. Looking 'round the net, I found a similar example that was dated to the 1920's. Has a jump ring to attach to a pocketwatch chain . Measures 2 13/16" long closed and 5 3/4" fully opened. In good working order.. . a few dents and rubs, but still a VERY cool example . Monogrammed " J. E. P. ". n.b. I have never had so many problems listing anything on eBay , one could probably list a nuclear warhead with greater ease... It is simply a lovely antique object that has never harmed anyone. I was told in the last round of eMails from eBay that I must provide " substantial description indicating that the knives do not open all the way automatically ". I hope that I have met that criterion and that finally the little knife can find its way to a good home... Buyer pays $4.50 shipping to most of the read more
