Offered for your consideration is my antique sterling silver presentation cup made by Frank W. Smith Silver Company of Gardner, Massachusetts some time before June 10th, 1902(please see photos). This beautiful cup with ornate handles & borders measures 7 5/8" high from top of the handles, 6 1/4" high from top of the cup, and is 9 3/4" wide from handle to handle, and it weighs 540 grams. Engraved on one side from top to bottom are: Ruth, from ,11 different initials, June tenth, 1902. Markings on the bottom are very hard for me to photograph,so, I'll try to describe what they are: 12 O'Clock North-Theodore B. Starr, New York; 3 O'Clock East-Frank W. Smith Co. mark as shown in 2nd picture; 6 O'Clock South-Sterling; 9 O'Clock West-728, 3 pts. My limited knowledge & research suggest this item was purchased from Theodore B. Starr in New York sometime before June 10th, 1902 and this 3 pint sterling silver cup is Frank W. Smith Silver Co.s Pattern No. 728(most likely an Arthur Stone, a leading Arts & Crafts silversmith in America, design). Overall condition of this unique item is OK, but, t are quite a few shallow dents and t,which,IMO, does not affect the overall appearance of this item too much. Though, listed at below intrinsic value of silver, I feel this piece should be researched further and preserved for future generations. A piece of very collectable late 19th or early 20th century American silver for your perusal. Good luck bidding.
