A wonderful eagle lectern designed for the Manitowoc Eagle's Club in 1904. This carving descended in the carver's family until it was sold recently.
Carver: Gustave Aumann of Manitowoc WI. Deceased in 1950's. The wood appears to be either quartersawn oak or ash retaining most of it's original finish Dimensions: 43 ½ in high, Wingspan 29 in., depth front to back 21 in., eagle itself is 18 ½ in. high without capital or base. Condition: Eagle's left wing needs reattachment and feather repair. Ankle joints loose w attached to feet. Some old repairs visible in photos but nothing to be redone. Split in column from age shrinkage. Most of the original finish still present. Replaced lectern ca 1940 from plywood now warped and fastened to the eagle with antique oak chair spindles . (the original lectern mount holes are visible when current lectern is removed) The eagle will be shipped partially disassembled. (Eagle, wing, base lecturn) to minimize damage during shipment. It will be professionally packed and insured. I will be glad to send additional photos of any specifics you require. T is no reserve and the starting price is very reasonable. This type of folk art is very rarely seen on the market today and when it does appear it is usually in the ten's of thousands of dollars
