For sale is a straight edge razor beautifully embossed "The Old English Razor" manufactured by Frederick Reynolds, Sheffield, England. Circa 1830's - 1840's according to research in reference to the golden embossed writing. Research also indicated the tang design was from the same time frame. Definitely before 1890 because it does not have England stamped under Sheffield on the shank. The shank reads "Manufactured by Frederick Reynolds Sheffield". The blade at widest point measures 7/8" and the spine is nicely rounded. I believe it is called a Full Wedge blade. There are no notches/chunks on the blade edge. The nose has what is called a barber's notch.A fellow eBayer advised we needed to clean-up the blade, so 4 hours this afternoon and now you can see yourself in the reflection of the blade! There is some pitting on the blade. It has a relaxed pivot with a nice long tang much easier to hold.
