ANTIQUE FRENCH 18K CRUCIFIED CHRIST PENDANT.
ANTIQUE FRENCH 18K CRUCIFIED CHRIST PENDANT. This is a really antique French crucified Christ pendant (circa 1700) ! We are sure it is French and we believe it is from the city of Lyon, because it carries a typical Lyonese control mark of that time, being a four-leaf clover (at the bottom of the pendant). It is entirely made of 18K warm yellow gold. It shows a crucified Christ on a Latin cross. Above his head is a band with the letters "INRI". They are the initials for the Latin title that Pontius Pilate had written over the head of Jesus Christ on the cross. Latin was the official language of the Roman Empire. The words were "Iesus Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaeorvm." The English translation is "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews." At his feet is a skull with 2 crossed tibiae. The pendant measures 3.50 cm (1.38 inch) by 2.50 cm (0.98 inch). The pendant weighs 3.80 gram (2.44 dwt) and is in excellent condition, which is quite unique considering its age. All our items will be shipped to the US by express with FEDEX for only $20. An additional $3 will be added for every extra item in the same parcel. On request we can pack every item in the same parcel in its own box, but then we'll have to charge an additional $6 instead of $3 per extra item We also have to inform you that in most countries outside Europe there is an import duty to be paid by the customer on pieces that are not antique (an object is considered antique if it is 100 years or older). For information about shipping charges to other countries, please contact us. One more thing, we can unfortunately not accept personal checks. To err is human.
