This is a French needlecase, which normally would be found on a Chatelaine (this is a chain that a housekeeper would normally wear holding all the things she would need keys needles scissors pencil etc) T is the word DEPOSE on inside of lid which means t has been a patent applied on the object. It has a repoussée design of birds in a flower tree a bit chinese style I think. In beautiful condition 3.5" long . I have relisted this item because I have found a hallmark and tested it and it tests as 9kt gold. The design on the front is an owl in a pine tree with pine cones etc and a crescent moon in the sky. The other side is two amorous birds in a holly bush with a rising sun at the bottom with rays coming from the sun. Extremely good repoussée work. (Surprising what you find when you look closer and give a good clean to objects isn't it?)Sorry about the relisting, but I do have to describe object as honestly as possible whether under estimated or over estimated.
