Please examine the photos, they are part of the description. Thank you.This is an 11 1/2" closed dome French Belton shoulder head on a gusset jointed leather body with porcelain lower arms and hands. The head is nearly perfect but there is a tiny chip on the right lower eyelid.It it is very hard to see in actual size. The only makers mark I could find on her is a very faint one near the hole in the top of her head (Photo #9). It might be a script L J. She has an incised mark around the top of her head which is how the French scored their doll heads to show where to cut the head open if the design called for that. The early French dolls usually did not have a molded flange at the head opening as did the German dolls. This doll has very pale complexion which indicated she is probably from the late 1800's. She has single stroke eyebrows, set brown glass eyes that I think are original, painted lashes tiny red eye and nose dots and a nicely painted open closed mouth with tiny molded teeth and a red painted tongue. Her features are all beautifully painted and are factory original. She has the slender neck of a lady doll. Her body is in good condition and is not leaking. There is an old repair on the upper left arm. The porcelain lower arms and hands are excellent. Someone put a small leather patch on her left foot and there are some stains read more
