Beautiful Antique French or Bohemian tazza/compote, features a blue enameled and etched glass bowl mounted on a silver metal base, measures 6" high x 6-5/8" top rim diameter. The silver metal base is hallmarked on top of one of the scallops (photo #5). The first mark is a diamond shape with a figure or insignia inside. This may be a French makers mark as most French makers used this type of diamond shaped mark. The second mark is the letter "N" within a square. There's a third mark on the outer edge of the top of the silver base (where the bowl bolts on), the mark looks like the letter "O" within a diamond (photo #6). The metal was originally tarnished but cleaned up beautifully with silver cream polish. I don't think the metal is plated, it appears to be a solid silver alloy or could be some type of solid alloy that resembles silver. The silver metal base alone weighs 315.5 grams. CONDITION: The silver is in mint condition with No damage. The glass bowl has occasional tiny flakes to the top edges of the rim. In addition, there's a rough raised flaw on the underside of the bowl original to production (pointed out in last photo). Otherwise, the glass is in excellent condition. The blue enameling is also in excellent condition.
