19th century, French-"Grand Tour" figural bronze of the classic sculpture of the gaul. A valiant Celtic warrior bronze figure seen in soft prayer as he is slowly slipping away. He has fought bravely in the Gauls' fifty-year war with the Greeks without armor. The original is found the Capitoline Museum, Rome, this sculpture is a Roman copy after a Hellenistic bronze original of the 3rd century BC. Measurements: Overall 6" long, 3" at the widest point, and 3" tall. Condition: excellent with no damage to the bronze, verdigris noted.
