This auction is for an antique (probably produced circa 1890-1900) combination Barometer and Thermometer. Made in France by Paul Naudet, and with his PNHB mark on the face, and impressed at the center of the back of the brass case. It is in very good condition with no cracks, dings, or dents to the brass case, and no chips or cracks to the bevelled glass front cover. It is 4 7/8" in diameter and is 2 1/8" deep. This is a Holsteric Barometer and a Fahrenheit Thermometer. The barometer appears to work as the the needle position changed over a few days, as a storm front came through. The glass tube of the thermometer is intact, but it appears the liquid/material (mercury?) inside, has slipped past w it should be, as it registers too high a temperature compared to what the real temperature actually is. The white face (possibly porcelain) has crazing, but no damage or stains. The lettering on the face reads: STORMY RAIN CHANGE FAIR VERY DRY HOLOSTERIC PNHB BAROMETER MADE IN FRANCE FAHRENHEIT THERMOMETER Paul Naudet, Holosteric (aneroid) Barometer maker, " PNHB ," was France's premier maker of quality aneroid barometers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Until his death in the 1920's, the prestigious Chelsea Company used only barometers made by Naudet for their world renown clock/barometer sets. Please message with any read more
