An antique french linen nightshirt dating from the late 1800`s, originally for a man but can be worn as a smock.The material is soft creamy white linen with flecks in the weave and there is a hand embroidered monogram PJ in pale red thread .The nightshirt has one hand sewn run and fell seam down one side.The front fastening has hand sewn buttonholes .The nightshirt has small neat gathers into the collar .There are inserts under the arm for extra comfort and movement picture and inserts in the shoulders and side seam splits at the hemline . There are some small bmarks on the back and a mark on the shoulder insert pictures 4 & 5.There is a hole on the collar neck edge see last picture The measurements are shoulder to hemline 107 cm or 42 inches. Underarm to underarm across the front 69 cm or 27 inches . Wider at the back because of the gathers into collar.The fabric is soft and hangs well. Postage Priority airmail £8.75.
