Fine, antique, French Louis XV painted & gilded pier/console table, circa 1870 . Fine, antique, French painted & gilded, composition/gesso, pier/console table circa 1870, the serpentine top has a variegated salmon pink marble top, below which is a gilded gesso frieze of acanthus leaves, below this is a floral swag of gilded gesso molding that has an inset painted panel of lovers in 18th century costume. The legs are turned and are gently tapering, the legs are connected by a curved stretcher and to the center is a turned finial, the table has carved gesso appliqued moldings throughout (all of which is present!). The table is made of pine, with gesso and paint applied, some paint sympathetically restored, all of the gesso moldings are intact, the table is: 48" wide x 41" tall x 18" deep. This is a very fine, antique, French Louis XV, painted & gilded pier/console table circa 1870.
