Antique French Majolica Oyster Plate Sarreguemines8 plates are available. This listing is for one plate. These plates were part of my Grandmother's collection, who came to the U.S. from Denmark. She took excellent care of everything, including these rare and beautiful antique oyster plates. The plate for sale in this auction is part of an 8-piece collection. This is an antique FRENCH OYSTER PLATE from SARREGUEMINES, FRANCE. This is the French equivalent to Wedgwood china. The beautiful, green, glaze highlights the six shell-shaped depressions on the plate, with a center depression that can be used for the sauce or garnish. The plate is designed as though t are six shells, sitting atop sea weed, with a cord around the edge of the plate. Very lovely! The back of the plate is marked with the plate maker name, FRANCE, and is depressed with the numbers 5896. The plate is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs, although t are some darker lines in the glaze that appear to be t due to age. The plate measures 10 inches in diameter. I will discount shipping charges for those who want to order more than one plate. T are 8 plates available. Please let me know if you would like a quote on shipping. Insurance will be required to ship these valuable plates. I have attempted to provide enough detail in the photographs for prospective buyers to see the excellent condition of the plate adequately, but please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
