Lovely pair of Antique French Shoe Buckles. Sparkling clear glass diamante on a silver back. Marks: There is a small mark which I am pretty certain is the usual "Boar's Head" French (Paris) mark used from 1838-1961 to denote items of silver content 800 or more. Outside of Paris it would be the Crab mark but I do not think that this is the case. There is also the required lozenge makers mark (L-V) which could be Lefresne & Varet. And impressed numbers 1611. The other buckle is not marked as is often with a pair..they are a true match. Size: Approx 5cms x 3.5cms. Date: C1900. Condition: Very good. One of the large stones on one buckle I think has been replaced at some stage. It is a good match ( I actually did not notice it myself) but does not glisten quite as brightly. I can honestly say that this does not detract in any way but is mentioned for accuracy. Please ask any questions before bidding.
