WELCOME! YOU HAVE JUST FOUND ANOTHER GREAT ITEM! A SUPERB ANTIQUE FRENCH PORCELAIN BOX WITH A DYNAMITE HANDPAINTED AND ARTIST SIGNED NAPOLEONIC BATTLE SCENE! This is one great find! This box measures approx. 8 1/8" X 8 1/8" X nearly 3 1/2" high. The only flaw I see is wear to the gold on the raised lines on the lid that divide the panels and the gold line that surrounds the box at the very bottom. T is some minor dryness to the paint that surrounds the gold flourishes on the sides but not affecting the gold itself. The rest of the gold is in excellent condition. The artist's signature appears to be "Challel" with a line through the underlining tail of the C. The line seems to end with and arrow point at the bottom. The letter at the top left of the line is not distinct but could be a "p". The marks below the line and to the right could possibly be a numeral "10" with a very small "0" or maybe just two downward dashes? I DO NOT SEE HOW IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO FIND AN ANTIQUE BOX ANY BETTER THAN THIS IF IT WERE USED AT ALL--AND I WOULD BE VERY SUSPECT OF IT IF IT DID NOT SHOW SOME USE. SO, You be the judge. But if you are looking for quality I don't know that you will ever see anything better!
