Thank you for looking and enjoy! This is definately one of the most unique and lovely antique photo frames I've ever found! It was purchased at a French flea market many years ago and dates to around the early 1900's. This is actually 6 frames in one unique folding piece and may have been intended for a traveling photo carrier. It is made from heavy cardboard which was covered in cream patterned silk moire' and a leather-type material on two padded panels which are handpainted. When folded, the two handpainted panels are on the outside ends. The handpainting is done in oil paint depicts two lovers in a garden scene....very nice and intricate detail. When open and standing, one side displays the two handpainted panels and three photo panels in-between. The other side has four photo panels framed in silk. Each panel measures 6 1/4" by 3 3/4" and the photo openings measure approximately 3" by 2". So, when open and laying flat, the entire piece measures 15 1/4" long. For its age, this piece is in very nice condition...the handpainted panels are fine with no staining or significant paint loss. Two of the silk panels have some water stains near the bottom and one panel has a small area w the silk has split near the top. Very light age discoloration and foxing is evident on most of the silk areas. Really, none of this is detracting to the piece itself...just noted for accuracy. T is an opening on the bottom of each panel for inserting the photographs. Don't miss out on this lovely, unique antique picture frame...you will love this!
