19C Antique French Sterling Silver Asparagus Server Tongs Hello everyone, over the next months I will be selling a large part of finest items from my antiques, vintages, and fine jewellry collection. About the Item: Up for auction is this most elegant Antique French Sterling Silver Asparagus Server Tongs with neo-classical decoration. The handle is wholly made from finest quality of French sterling silver, chiseled, hand engraved and guilloche all over with foliage decoration. Terminating in a elegant pommel. T is hand engraved initial "HR" with very fancy letters. The pierced blades, work with a spring mechanism, have beautiful pattern of foliage scrolls, leaves and flowers. High quality piece in very good condition. It's a rare find! It measures 11"1/4 (28.5cm) long and 1"3/4 (4.5cm) wide. As hallmarks we have The French Minerva No.1 on the handle, which indicates the best quality of French sterling silver 950/1000 (finest than sterling) used in Paris since 1838.
