This is a Guarenteed 100% old French terrestrial globe, on a three legged ornate iron base. It definitely needs some TLC. The sp has several hairline cracks in the surface, and is missing a piece in two places. The iron frame around the sp is broken, has been reapired with some sort of epoxy material and needs re-repair. The sp is not attached to the frame except by sitting in it, it has dowel pegs in the top and bottom, but they are not attached. The globe is marked "Globe Terrestre, Editeur D. Windels" with markings in different colors for all of the different empires and colonies. I think one of the more interesting attributes of this particular globe is the reference to the different races arond the world, the "Race Noir" of Africa, the "Race Blanche" of Europe, the "Race Rouge" or red race of American Indians, The "Race Juane" or yellow race of the orient, Not quite as politically correct as today's globes. All together a neat piece of map history, worth the restoration for the person qualitfied to undertake it. Any questions, please email. NO RESERVE! and opening bid of $.99 !!
