A beautiful French teal blue cotton and linen toile from the 1800s. This is evident from the fact that the printing goes right to the extreme edge of the selvedge, showing no white edging. This is a long panel, but it has several horizontal joins, where the pattern has not been well matched. The pieces are machine stitched together, but I feel that this fabric once had another life - perhaps as a curtain. The printing is exquisite and the colour a soft shade - really beautiful. There is a great deal of good and damage-free fabric here, and the joining seams could of course be unpicked. The total length is 131" by 32" wide. This is made up of pieces ranging from 19" in depth to 24" in depth. So unpicked it would give 5 pieces of different lengths. Very good condition otherwise - strong and unfaded.
