Antique 3 Gal Stoneware Crock "Buckeye Pottery Co" BLUE RIBBON BRAND Macomb ILL Description Early 19th Century Salt Glaze Crock Attributed to the Buckeye Pottery Co., Macomb ILL, Circa 1882 - 1938. The Piece is Cobalt Decorated With Circular Maker's Mark, Brand Name, and No. 3. Approximately 11 x 11. This Piece is in Very Good Condition With Out Repair or Restoration. Nice (All Glaze) Interior. No cracks or breaks. Three very small fissure lines on top rim, and three small chippies on the bottom rim. (see pics). Originally this three gallon crock may have been a receptacle for butter, for lard, or for storing eggs in water glass (the country method for preserving them against winter scarcity). Present-day uses may range anywhere from a jardiniere to a wastepaper basket. A Wonderful Piece to Add to Your Collection, or Serve You Well in Various Household Ways.
