We strive to provide accurate descriptions on all of our items, because we ourselves have been in your shoes, we have been the buyer who won the excellent razor to only have it arrive in not so excellent condition. We can relate, and we never want to be guilty of placing you in a situation w you get an item that is not as good as we described it to be. When it comes to putting something on your face to shave with, we know how important the details are. WHAT DOES SHAVE READY MEAN? This razor will come to you in SHAVE READY CONDITION . That means that this razor has been through a pyramid honing process in order to refine the blade's edge. It has then been stropped on two balsa wood strops with two grades of diamond paste, and a final polishing is done on Russian leather to insure a close and comfortable shave. It is then shave tested to insure it is in shave ready condition. This razor will also come to you clean, and sterile. We do not add grease, oil, or any other lubricants to your razor before shipping. In most cases we offer same day shipping, depending on the time of day payment is received. All razors ship in a box, and never in an envelope. Description For your consideration, your collection, an a great old fashion shave, I present you with this old Genco Straight Razor that will come to you shavce ready. This razor was manufactured in the early 30's, so it does have some imperfections. This razor has a set of celluloiid ivory scales that are in good to great condition. While they have no structural damages such as cracks at the pins, chips or nicks to the inside edges, t is some very slight age crazing on the top edge of one scale that can be seen int he photo of the bottom edge of the pivot area if you look closely. It's not serious by any means, and the scales line up perfectly, and are not affected by this crazing at all. T is nice nickel silver strap bolsters on each end, and on both sides of the scales. The bolsters are evenly inlaid with the celluloid and are all securely in place. The black wedge is even on all sides, and securely in place. The blade is nice and tight on the pivot with no slack, play, or wobble in any direction. The blade opens and closes with a nice steady tension that keeps the blade tight at every point while opened. The tang stamp can be seen int he photos. The pivot area is nice and clean, with only a few light visible stains that can be seen in the photos. The blade's face is specced with small spots of staining, and the remnants from what was very light rust in some of those spots you see in the photos. That does not stop the razor from being a great shaver though. It has a nice keen edge that's free from nicks, chips, or cracks. I've shaved with it only once, and it shaved very well. T is a little visible hone wear to the blade back sides, and the blade width is 9/16 ~ The perfect size for most light to medium beards. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
