This is an original Walnut General Store Table-Top Curved-Glass Display Case. The glass is original and in good condition for its age although t are some minor scratches and rough edges (due primarily to the primative cutting technique used in manufacture). The case has brass cornices which are in fair condition although the metal surfaces have certainly worn and dulled through the years. T is a door on the back of the case which latches on the top with an original brass latch and hinges on the bottom on original spring-loaded hinges (the bottom left-rear hinge is missing its spring). The right-rear framed side of the rear door is missing (see pictures) although, as the back door has the inside surface mirrored, this defect is not visible from the front. The inside of the case is lined in black velvet or felt (not original). As can be seen in the pictures, the glass and the wooden frame that holds the glass in-place have separated over time in the corners - although the case is still very stable and the framing could be tightened to alleviate some or possibly all of this separation by someone who knew what they were doing.
