is an antique hatchet which celebrates the inauguration of President George Washington. I think that this item was probably produced for the American Centennial in 1876. The axe is made of cast aluminum, or another non-ferrous metal. The axe head features an outline of Washington; and the handle reads "Washington Inaugurated President of the US Apr. 30, 1789." The hatchet measures about 13" long and weighs just under 2 pounds. Condition is very good. Shipping is $8.00 within the continental USA. Insurance is extra. The free listing tool.
