You are bidding on an antique brass roasting jack . This is an English, Georgian, antique, solid brass, roasting jack with key. On the bottom is incised, "Warranted 20". This is the world's first rotisserie meat roaster. You hang the meat from a hook on the bottom, wind up the jack, the hook goes back and forth and the meat turns back and forth, roasting it evenly in the fireplace. C. 1820 - 13" including the spring on the bottom and the handle on the top. - The brass is in excellent condition and the key works. Can be cleaned shiny, if desired.
