Antique Georgian Victorian Silver Signed Necklace This auction is for a striking and unique, sterling silver choker necklace, that is estimated to be from 1800 - 1850.This piece tests positive for sterling and has a maker mark on the tongue of the clasp of "IF" and perhaps a silver mark of "13". The necklace is 13 1/4" long, 2 1/4" wide at its widest point, and weighs 99 grams. This necklace was/is worn as a true choker with the clasp being worn as a pendant at the front of the piece. The clasp works smoothly and closes securely from both sides of the pendant with one side being a little more fiddly - you have to make sure to line it up correctly to open and close it. The chain is made up of 8 fine and yet sturdy strands of sterling that drape beautifully and have a soft feel when worn. There is one link that has been repaired as it is a tiny bit larger than the rest but is noticeable only upon very close inspection and there are no other irregularities or signs of solder or repair to the piece. The pendant has an intricate filigree pattern that is accented with pretty stones. The central stone is a natural coral cabochon (which has a small pit on one side that is noticeable only upon inspection) that is surrounded by garnet stones (that look natural and original to the piece). I'm not sure if the turquoise colored stones are original read more
